Founded in 2015 in Kyrenia, Final International University is one of Northern Cyprus's newer universities, built through a partnership between one of Turkey's established education groups and a leading name in the region's tourism industry. The campus overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and has grown quickly across business, health sciences, law, education, and engineering. FIU also runs a hospitality management program developed with the VATEL hospitality school in France. Its size keeps class sizes personal, and its location puts students close to Kyrenia's harbor and beaches.
Founded in 1988 in Nicosia, Near East University has grown into the largest university on the island, with students from more than 100 countries. It's the only university in Northern Cyprus offering both Medicine and Dentistry, backed by its own teaching hospital accredited for clinical excellence. The campus includes one of the region's largest libraries, its own museums, a radio and television studio, and dedicated research centers — giving students a genuinely self-contained university city rather than just a set of classrooms.
Founded in 2017 in Kyrenia, Bahçeşehir Cyprus University is the newest campus in the BAU Global Education Network, which includes sister institutions across Istanbul, Berlin, Rome, Washington D.C., and other cities on three continents. That network gives students the option to spend part of their studies on a different campus abroad. BAU Cyprus teaches in English across engineering, architecture, business, and social sciences, with a strong focus on preparing students for international careers from day one.
Founded in 1997 in North Nicosia, Cyprus International University offers more than 100 degree programs across 12 faculties, including Medicine, Dentistry, Law, and Engineering, all taught in English. CIU has also become known for its sustainability efforts, running the largest solar power installation in Northern Cyprus and ranking among the most sustainable universities in the world. With students from dozens of countries, a full sports complex, and its own radio station, campus life extends well beyond the classroom.
Founded in 1985 in Kyrenia, Girne American University was the very first private university established in Northern Cyprus, built on the American higher education model. It now hosts students from more than 130 countries and offers programs across engineering, business, architecture, law, and the arts, with additional campuses linked to the US, UK, and Singapore. Its long history in the region means an especially well-developed student life, with dozens of clubs, sports teams, and its own on-campus radio station.
